1.The first and foremost reason is your diet. If you are eating less than maintenance calories then you are destined to remain skinny and lose even more weight. 2. You metabolism also plays an important role in your physical development. People who are skinny generally have high metabolism and their body type is Ectomorph. Don't worry once your body becomes mesomorph then your physique would appear great. Mesomorphs have moderately balanced metabolism.
Why you should gain Weight ?
There two ways you could gain weight (1) Either you eat more than your maintenance calories or (2) Workout and gain weight through lean muscle mass gaining. Of which the first one is unhealthy option, it might cause serious health issues in the future if not right now. The second option which is lean gaining is way better and healthier option that the previous one.

If you are trying to gain some lean mass through exercise then your diet should be sufficient for you to help recovery and building even bigger and stronger muscles.

Your Diet should contain High amount of complete Protein such as Egg Whites, Chicken, Protein Supplements, Meat or combination of vegetarian foods which are high in protein such as grains with lentils or beans, milk and etc. Moderate carbs to full fill daily caloric requirement such as Banana, Oats, Whole Wheat food, Sweet Potato and etc. Some amount of healthy fats such as Peanuts, Almond, Olive Oil, Egg Yolk or sometimes Ghee.
Your Diet Should also contain all the essential vitamins and minerals. In order to complete this requirement you should consume various types of fruits, nuts and etc
